Arsenal's Title Hopes in Limbo After Disappointing Weekend

Gunners Concede Control to Manchester City in Pivotal Premier League Day

Title Race Thrown Wide Open as Arsenal and Liverpool Falter

Arsenal's once-commanding position in the Premier League title race has been severely weakened following a bruising weekend of results that saw them lose crucial ground to reigning champions Manchester City.

A shock 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, courtesy of late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins, has left the Gunners' hopes hanging in the balance. Arsenal, who were five points clear at the top of the table before the weekend, now trail City by two points with just six games remaining.

Adding to Arsenal's woes was Liverpool's equally disappointing 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield. The Reds, who have been Arsenal's closest rivals all season, failed to overcome a stubborn Palace defense and now find themselves four points behind City.

The results have handed the initiative to City, who have a two-point cushion and a superior goal difference. Arsenal now faces an uphill battle to reclaim the top spot, especially considering their remaining fixtures include a daunting away trip to City on April 26.

Arsenal's title hopes have been further damaged by a disappointing Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich. The Gunners were outplayed in both legs of the Round of 16 tie and will now focus solely on the Premier League.
